I Am A witch – Songstress Efya Confesses
Ghanaian songstress Efya Nokturnal has recently made a bold confession that has left many people stunned.
The award-winning musician and performer claimed that she has witchcraft powers due to her love for the color black. This revelation was made during an interview with Joy Prime host Doreen Avis.
Efya, born Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, openly admitted that her love for the color black made her feel like a witch.
“Why not black though? I feel like it blends with every other color. You can wear black shoes and a red dress and it’s still popping,” she explained.
“I think black is something that fits most of the time. Also, I like it because you know I’m a witch.”
In Ghana, the color black is often associated with bad omens or mourning the dead. Despite this, Efya stated that she would not mind wearing black as an alternative color for her wedding.
“Yes, it’s one of the things I’ve always wanted to do, but I’m not sure anymore. We’ll see,” she said.
According to Efya, working at night ignited her interest in the color black and darkness, which has become her signature aesthetic.
She even named her Twitter handle @Efya_Nokturnal, inspired by her nocturnal lifestyle. “I have insomnia, I don’t really sleep at night, and it’s been like that for a very long time.
So, I figured I might as well make it cool because I’m a very Nocturnal being and I come alive at night. Most of the time I like to work late at night because it’s quiet and there’s a different energy,” she said.
Efya has promised new music soon after returning from a lengthy hiatus from releasing albums and mixtapes. She has won the VGMA Best Female Vocalist of the Year award five times.
