Nollywood Actress Remanded In Prison For This Reason (Will Shock You)
Nollywood actress and skit creator Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility for tampering with the new naira notes by a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The actress was charged with two counts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and appeared before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke on Monday, February 13.
The actress was held in custody pending the outcome of her bail application after entering a not-guilty plea.
In light of this, one of the counts stated: “That you Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin tampered with the sum of N100,000.00 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, while dancing during a social occasion at Monarch event center, Lekki, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, by spraying it at the occasion on January 28, 2023. You did so in violation of section 21 (1) of the Central Bank Act of 2007, which carries a penalty.
Meanwhile, the defense attorney, Goncalves Adenike, requested that the defendant be admitted to bail until the case was heard and urged that she be remanded in EFCC custody until the completion of her bail conditions.
To that effect, the prosecution’s attorney, S.I. Sulaiman, requested that the defendant be remanded in prison custody until a trial date was set.
The judge remanded the defendant in custody and postponed making a decision on the bail application until Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
